This week I had the huge pleasure of going to Liberty's home to do our second maternity session. She is in the final countdown to the arrival of her second child, and has such grace in what can often feel like the longest few weeks ever! Liberty and I first met five years ago when we trained together as breastfeeding counsellors with Cuidiu, and have a shared love of supporting women through pregnancy and birth as doulas, and into their breastfeeding journey too. I can't wait to go back to meet the little one when they decide to come earthside, so exciting!
It's the summer holidays at last, oh thank goodness! The warm weather returned with perfect timing at the end of school, and in our first week of break we have been making the most of it! From starting our days at our local beach just a short drive away (I know, we are so lucky!), to playing with new toys the 8 year old bought with her gifted birthday money (all bought from www.babipur.co.uk), to sunny evening walks. We are loving these precious days of summer. What have you been up to?
I first met Clodagh and Shane for a wedding consult over 5 years ago, and the connection was immediate, what an amazing couple. I've had the absolute pleasure of photographing them four times now, and every time is just such a gift, and a wonderful way to spend a few hours. Clodagh and Shane, as always, it has been a gift to document your gorgeous family, thank you for welcoming me into your space.
On Saturday just gone my firstborn turned eight years old. Eight. Where on earth does the time go!? Here's a few from our little birthday sunset session, I just couldn't pick a favourite out of these 3 to share, so here's all of them!
Creating art for families is without a doubt the best thing about my work, the second best thing is of course the baby cuddles! I was so honoured to be welcomed into Aisling and Pat's home to document their beautiful family, including new arrival baby Averie and her big sister Esme. Really there isn't much to say, the photos speak for themselves as to how great this session was, including some jigsaw making fun I got to do with sweet Esme.
It has been quite some time since my last blog post, so where have I been!? In January 2015 I was 3 months into my pregnancy and already in a massive amount of pain with SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction) with my pelvis totally out of whack, so we decided that the time had come for me to start a very early maternity leave. The rest of the pregnancy got even more difficult as the SPD worsened and I had seeral bleeds throughout right up until our little boy was born at 39 weeks.
Since then I have been loving life at home with my now almost 8 year old daughter, Isabel, and almost 3 year old son, Ollie. From adjusting to a family of 4, to Isabel starting school just weeks after the arrival of her little brother, Ollie's reflux and food allergies being a huge part of his babyhood, and everything else that goes along with having kids, it's safe to say that I have been busy!
A few months ago I started thinking about getting behind the camera again, I really missed meeting and connecting with families and having the honour of documenting their lives. After talking with several friends and family members I decided it was time, and things were set in motion. I had sold all of my camera gear in 2015 when it was looking like I wouldn't get state maternity benefit due to not being able to work since the January, so I needed to start researching equipment again. You would not believe how much camera technology has changed since I bought my previous cameras, I even had to upgrade my editing software and computer hardware to be inline with the newer cameras, but with everything sorted, including this new website, I was ready to hit the ground running.
This Tuesday I had my first proper session back to work, and I'm so happy to report that after 3 years of a break that I can still work with newborns, phew, what a major relief, and it was amazing to be back to work! I am so excited to reconnect with so many families, some of whom have already booked their next session, and to meet so many more. I would love to hear from you if you would like to book a session, either newborn or family, it is very exciting to be back!
