FAQ Newborn and Family Sessions

When is the best time to have a newborn session?

In my opinion the best time to capture your newborn is within the first 14 days, but the sessions can be done up to six weeks of age. They are still tiny, sleepy, cuddly and easy to move around without disturbing them.

Do you use props with newborns?

I don’t believe in using a huge amount of props when working with newborns, as they don’t need any extras to make them super cute. I do have numerous blankets, wraps and backdrops for you to choose from and of course if you have a sweet little hat or something you would like to incorporate into the session we can of course do that. But I’m a firm believer that the less that’s used with newborns, the better!

How frequently do you wash the blankets, wraps etc?

I wash everything that was used in a session straight after. I use non-biological washing powder and Comfort Pure softener to ensure everything is suitable for your baby’s delicate skin.

When is the best time to have a maternity session?

The best time for your maternity session is from 30+ weeks. Baby is making themselves very well known to the outside world (and most certainly to mum!), mum looks great and isn’t too tired, and most importantly looks absolutely fabulous around this time!

What should we wear?

Keep things simple, and co-ordinate your clothes as opposed to matchy-matchy. Newborns always look great in the nude, but if you’d rather have baby clothed solid coloured onesies look best, or even a cute nappy cover and sweet little hat. With older babies and children, again keep things simple. Nothing that’s too big for them, and I would advise against tops with large cartoon character prints.  I will send you on a style guide packed full of advice once your session is booked.

How long do the sessions last?

The length of the session depends on what session/package type you go for. They vary from 1.5 hours up to 3 hours.

How long is the viewing gallery up for?

Your viewing gallery will be up for 2 weeks, I will check with you that the timing suits before the 2 week period will begin. If you need additional time to the 2 weeks, there is a €20 fee to extend the time by a further 2 weeks.
